Background: |
Sterol methyltransferase (SMT), the enzyme from Saccharomyces cerevisiae that catalyzes the conversion of sterol acceptor in the presence of AdoMet to C-24 methylated sterol and AdoHcy. Arabidopsis contains three SMT—sterol methyltransferase 1 (SMT1, AT5G13710), SMT2 (AT1G20330), and SMT3 (AT1G76090). |
